DRM October 2018 Newsletter

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Partners,

The DRM Consortium has been very busy since the successful 2018 IBC in Amsterdam

Good news of the policy directive on the introduction of digital sound broadcasting in South Africa came on the heels of the recent announcement on DRM from Russia. Please see below the interesting approach taken by the South African Department of Communications and the prominent role envisaged for DRM in this country. A detailed article on how to introduce DRM for local coverage practically is also included. We have also added the details about a recent DRM event held in Nepal and the DRM contribution to the ABU General Assembly in Turkmenistan. And as the DRM Consortium will also participate in the EBU Week of Technology organised together with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in Tunis, we will share with you the details of the special live transmission planned for this event.

There are other more permanent new DRM transmissions which have been added to the new transmission map now available to all those interested on the DRM website. This will be doubled by real audio examples demonstrating the superior quality of DRM in all bands.

If you have more questions about DRM, please also check the updated DRM Implementation Guide (renamed "DRM Handbook") which is ready to be downloaded for free from: www.drm.org

For those who need a short introduction to the DRM standard we have produced a "DRM at a Glance"

If you want to see the progress of DRM in India, please also check the Indian Timeline now on the Indian pages of our website.

And if you have nominations for our 2018 DRM Enterprise Award please let us know.

Finally, please do not forget to join us on TwitterYouTube and Flickr.  And if you want to join the Consortium please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
